Hoja Magistrate!
For quite some time, Hodja worked as a magistrate in a village. During that period, most of his decisions were quite strange. Here is one such story...
One day, a man from that village arrived running and breathless at Hodja's house and cried out:
"Sir, two thieves tied me up and beat me severely in the middle of the night. Then, they took away all the money, jewellery, and utensils from my house. It was only when my neighbours found out a little while ago that I was able to move from there. You must help me. Catch the thieves and recover what I have lost."
Immediately, Hodja asked him a different question: "Among all the other things, did they steal your underwear?"
The man said, "No, Sir!"
Hodja continued, "In that case, those thieves are not from this village. The thieves here would never stop a robbery halfway and leave. They would take everything."
The man asked, "Master, what should I do now?"
Hodja replied, "Go to the magistrate in the next village."
The man turned around and walked away, filled with disappointment.
