Hodja's chicken soup!
There were times when people would trick Hodja and take various things away from him.
Once, a friend of Hodja gave him a chicken. At the same time, this friend went around boasting to many people that he had gifted a chicken to Hodja.
When some people heard this, they thought: Hodja's cooking is famous even in the palace, so if we visit his house today, we might get to taste some delicious chicken dish!
Hodja slaughtered the chicken and made a tasty chicken soup. Just then, there was a knock at the door. When Hodja opened the door, a man walked in and said, "I am the brother of the person who gifted the chicken to you today."
Hodja understood the purpose of his visit. He went to the kitchen, served the soup in a bowl, and gave it to him. When the man returned, he told his relative about getting the soup.
That relative rushed to Hodja's house and said, "I am the relative of the person who gave you the chicken today."
Hodja, a little saddened, served him soup by filling the bowl half with soup and half with hot water. The man quickly finished it and immediately told his relative, "You should hurry to Hodja's house, you can still have chicken soup. The taste is a little less, though."
The relative quickly reached Hodja's house. Hodja asked with a bit of distress, "I don't seem to recognize you. Who are you?"
"The relative of the person who gave you the chicken came here just a while ago, didn't he? I am the relative of that relative," he replied.
Immediately, Hodja went to the room. He poured a little soup into a bowl, then filled the rest of the bowl with hot water, and handed it to the man.
"Phew!" The man took one gulp and spat it out into the courtyard. He immediately asked, "Is this chicken soup?"
Hodja replied, "This is the soup of the soup of the chicken soup of the person who gave the chicken!"
The man got angry and walked away from there.
