A rain blessing!
This is a classic Mulla Nasruddin (Hojamulla) story.
Once, Hojamulla was walking in the rain with an umbrella. Just then, he saw a scholar from the area running by.
Should he let this opportunity to teach the slightly arrogant scholar a lesson pass by?
Hoja stopped the scholar and said, "Rain is a blessing from Allah. Why are you trying to run away from it?"
The scholar had no counter-argument. He nodded in agreement and walked slowly, getting drenched in the rain. When he got home, he came down with a fever.
A few days later, the scholar was walking with an umbrella in the rain. Just then, he saw Hoja running in the rain.
The scholar was astonished by this. The same Hoja who had just a few days ago called the rain a blessing was now running to avoid it?
"Hey, Hoja, stop running. Don't you want the blessing of the rain?"
Without stopping, Hoja immediately shouted, "The rain is indeed a blessing. But I am running while stepping wide so as to not trample on this blessing!"
Hoja, who managed to get home without getting too wet, burst into laughter thinking about how he had outsmarted the scholar.
