Story of an umbrella!
Once upon a time, there lived a common man named Ramu in the land of Silbaripuram. There, the monsoon season lasted longer than usual. Moreover, the summer rains were also strong. He always carried a large umbrella with him.
One morning, a light drizzle began. Ramu, holding his umbrella, went to the temple. He was on his way to attend a wedding there. Later, the sun shone brightly.
It was when he sat down for the wedding feast that his wet umbrella felt like a burden. He tried to place the umbrella on a table near the crowded area, but it didn't work. He tried to put it on his lap, but that didn't work either. Immediately, Ramu exclaimed loudly, "Damn! This umbrella has become such a nuisance!"
He leaned the umbrella against the leg of the table. A colony of ants, which permanently resided under that table, started climbing onto the fabric of the umbrella. They lined up and rested in the folds of the fabric.
After the wedding feast, Ramu walked back home with his umbrella. Meanwhile, the sun gave way to rain clouds gathering in the sky again.
Ramu had to cross a small wooden bridge to get to the path leading home. As soon as he stepped onto the small wooden bridge, it started to drizzle. Just then, as he opened the umbrella, the swarm of ants fell onto Ramu's face, shirt, and head like rainfall!
The moment the ants started biting, he threw the umbrella into the water below. He scratched all over his body and ran home, drenched in the rain. The next day, he even caught a fever!
Meanwhile, a child who came to bathe in the stream found this umbrella and took it home like a treasure!
Food for Thought: People rarely remember those who consistently do favors for them for years. However, if a favor is missed just once, it's common to hurl curses and discard everything old, just like what happened to the umbrella in this story! After favors, even relationships become a burden to many, just like a wet umbrella!
