Revenge is like fire!

Somu was a merchant in the land of Silbaripuram. As his business grew, Somu decided to expand it to several other places.

For this, more money was needed. At that time, he brought along a friend named Cheeran for the business. However, Cheeran was a traitor. After a few years, he betrayed Somu, took the money, and fled to a nearby village.

Somu was overcome with a desire for revenge. He had also hidden a dagger in the folds of his dhoti. His aim was to find Cheeran and kill him.

While rushing about in a frenzy, Somu grew tired. He fell asleep under a banyan tree he saw by the roadside. A sage returning from the nearby temple sat down next to Somu to rest.

When Somu awoke, the sage introduced himself. Somu's desire for revenge had not subsided at all. Seeing this, the sage said, "You can easily kill your friend. However, you will not be able to escape from the land of Kosalapuram. You will rot in a dark prison for the rest of your life. Now, you decide. Should both of you be destroyed in the fire of revenge?"

Somu gritted his teeth and said many things in anger. Gradually, as his rage subsided, it was dawn. He threw away the dagger from his dhoti and walked back home.

Food for Thought: Revenge is like fire. It will burn to ashes even those who ignite it.
