An Incarnation!

Once, election campaigning began in Kerala. A prominent daily newspaper published an article praising a leading political leader. Here's a summary of what was written:

The article featured a picture of the leader alongside a picture of an ordinary party supporter. Doctors had advised that this ordinary man's mother needed immediate surgery. It could be done at a famous hospital in Thiruvananthapuram at a low cost. However, patients were on a waiting list that stretched from one to two years.

These patients were prolonging their days by taking strong medications. Feeling that things were going this way, the man sought a shortcut.

He arrived at the prominent leader's house in the morning and obtained a letter addressed to the Thiruvananthapuram hospital authorities. His mother's surgery took place within the week he submitted the letter there. The woman was saved.

This expression of gratitude was used by the journalists as an election strategy. The newspaper stirred up emotions by writing things like "A great tree of compassion," "Shelter for the helpless," "A vessel full of goodness," "A gentle soul," "A virtuous doer," "A holy man," and "An incarnation!"

At a glance, those reading the newspaper would find no fault in feeling great respect for the leader. But what is the truth here?

What happened in this case was an act of corruption and cruelty. That is, this man's mother's surgery took place by bypassing a patient who had been waiting for years. Some deserving patient was pushed to the back of the line!

In short, it means that the law was circumvented by recommendation due to political influence!

Think: Public welfare is not about using power to make recommendations. Rather, public servants should view their lives as a noble opportunity to ensure a high quality of life for their citizens!
