The fragrance !

Once upon a time, perfumes and fragrant ointments were the most prized items among the merchants of the Silbaripuram kingdom. The royal palace and the surroundings of the lords' and landlords' estates were always drenched in sweet aromas. It was a time when high-quality attars (perfumes) were even exported to neighbouring kingdoms.

Once, a need arose to appoint someone for this specific work at the royal palace. Since it was a high-paying job, a large crowd of candidates gathered at the palace premises.

The court scholar set a single test for them. He said, "Each person must enter this palace room, observe the two flower garlands hanging at a distance, and identify which one is the real flower garland. You must also clearly explain the reason for your choice."

Each candidate entered one by one. Most of them tried to identify it by sniffing the air, thinking the job was related to fragrances. To prevent the scent from escaping, the windows had been kept shut.

Finally, a clever young man entered the room. The scent of the flowers from the real garland filled the entire space. His wit sparked an idea.

He opened the window facing the palace garden. Suddenly, bees and beetles flew into the room and settled on the garland with the real flowers. The young man, having identified the correct garland, was awarded the job.

The Moral

> Everyone should strive to move away from a lazy mindset and act with alertness. Be vigilant so that the many achievements meant for you do not slip away through moments of carelessness.
