Fox- King of the forest!

Once upon a time, in the land of Silbaripuram, there was a time when humans did not live there. In that forest, there were no lions, tigers, elephants, bears, or leopards to rule. That is to say, the forest was mostly filled with smaller animals.

One day, all the animals gathered in a large group around a massive Banyan tree. The wild buffalo said, "Friends, I hear that in every forest, either a lion or a tiger is the King. Even if we don’t have such big animals, we too must have a King!"

All the other animals supported this. However, they could not decide who should become the King. Just then, the rabbit said, "The fox is the most intelligent in this forest. Therefore, let’s make the fox our King."

Immediately, another rabbit spoke up: "In this forest, hunters from the neighbouring kingdom of Kosalapuram often arrive. To identify them from a distance, the monkey who lives on the tallest tree would be perfect. If the monkey—who has the ability to observe from up there—becomes our King, won't we get better security?"

However, because a few animals spoke in favour of the fox, it was decided that everyone would think it over and gather here again tomorrow morning.

That night, the fox was deep in thought. He decided that he must show the others that the monkey was incompetent.

The next morning, the fox found a copper pot that hunters had abandoned long ago. He cut a small piece of a fig—the monkey's absolute favourite—and dropped it into the pot.

He then placed the pot under the tall tree where the monkey slept and moved toward the Banyan tree. After a while, all the animals arrived. They said in unison, "Our security is most important. Therefore, let the monkey be our King!"

But the monkey had not arrived yet. "Where is our King?" some animals asked anxiously.

Then the fox said, "Don't you know that monkeys are generally fickle-minded? Come with me, I will show you."

When they all reached the foot of the monkey's tree, they saw him sitting with his hand stuck inside the copper pot.

The fox asked the monkey, "O King, why didn't you come there? What are you doing with this pot?"

The monkey replied, "My favourite fig is inside this pot. But I am unable to pull it out because I’m trying to grab the whole thing at once."

The fox turned to the others and said, "Look at this fellow with his 'monkey-fist stubbornness, sitting here all day for a pot. Is this the person you want to make King?"

Immediately, all the animals declared the fox as the King of that forest.

Moral of the Story:

Fickleness is not something limited to monkeys alone. Even among humans, there are many who ruin their lives through sheer stubbornness and greed. One should always practice self-reflection!
