A strange reply!

During Hodja’s lifetime, his unique way of thinking and his peculiar ideas gave birth to many beautiful and witty stories.

One day, Hodja was traveling down a road on his donkey. However, since Hodja wasn't making any effort to guide the animal, it was wandering aimlessly in whichever direction it pleased. After seeing him like this for several days, some passersby called out to him, asking him to stop and talk, but Hodja simply continued his journey.

Eventually, people blocked his path and asked the confused-looking Hodja, "We have asked you to stop so many times, but you act as if you can't hear us. Where exactly are you going?"

Immediately, Hodja replied, "The truth is, I am not the one going anywhere. The donkey is going wherever it likes. I am merely sitting on its back! Moreover, wherever the donkey decides to rest, I will get down and start my work there."

Hearing Hodja’s strange and comical reply, the people burst into laughter.

Moral of the Story

One should not live life aimlessly without a sense of direction or control. You must have your own thoughts, ideas, decisions, goals, and preferences. Otherwise, you will end up dancing to someone else’s tunes. It would be just like sitting on someone else’s donkey and being carried away to an unknown destination.
