The birds of paddy field!

Once upon a time, the entire land of Silbaripuram was rich with farmlands. Paddy fields stretched out like green carpets and were a common sight.

From the land of Kosalapuram, a man named Ravunni migrated here. He bought some farmlands and started his own paddy cultivation. Though he lacked experience, he didn't let that bother him.

The first year, he got an average yield. The second year, the amount of rice decreased slightly. He then realized there was a nuisance of field birds all over the place.

"These are the reason my rice yield is low. I must chase all of them away from this area."

During the next harvest season, when the paddy grains appeared, Ravunni lit firecrackers to scare the birds away. He spread a net and caught one, tying it to a long stick. As he kept a strict watch, the birds avoided the area and went to other fields.

After the next harvest, he got the lowest amount of rice he had ever had. He was very confused. To solve the problem, Ravunni visited a prominent farmer from the area and explained the situation.

The farmer then said, "Ravunni, the reason your yield has decreased so much is that you completely chased away those birds. They eat more pests and insects that attack the rice than they eat the grains themselves! Because there were no birds, the pests multiplied and ate your rice!"

Moral: Do not make hasty decisions without a thorough investigation.
