Little Hodja's Logic

When Hodja was a child, even in his youth, he loved jokes and witty arguments.

In his village, he especially enjoyed the pleasant morning chill that made it so comfortable to sleep wrapped in a blanket. However, his father did not like the habit of waking up late.

One day, his father came and woke him up while he was still sleeping. He reluctantly sat up in bed. His father then said, "Son, if you wake up late like this in the morning, we won't get any good fortune."

He asked, "What do you mean we will get, father?"

His father then said, "Once, I was returning from the night market. I didn't see anything valuable lying on the road. However, that morning, I had to go down the same road for some work. That's when I found a purse with 100 gold coins lying on the road. Tell me, wasn't that good fortune for waking up early?"

At that, Hodja burst into laughter. "In that case, the person who walked by that road even earlier must have lost the purse. That wasn't good fortune for him, was it?"

As his father walked away in embarrassment, Hodja curled back up under his blanket.
