How to test true love?

The Test of True Love

Once upon a time, in the land of Silbaripuram, a divine guru and his disciple were on their way to visit a temple. As they walked, they saw a crowd gathered on the other side of the road.

Along with the sight, they could hear the wailing of women. The guru and disciple inquired about the matter. At that, someone said, "The young man of that house has passed away. The entire family is in deep sorrow."

Immediately, the disciple pleaded, "Gurudev, since this is an urgent situation, you can help this family. Please have mercy on them."

The guru smiled, "I don't believe their love for this householder is genuine. I will test if his demise is truly unbearable for them, and then I shall bring him back to life."

Both of them entered the house. The four children, the wife, the grandmother, and other family members were sitting there, grief-stricken and exhausted from weeping.

The guru said to them, "Since his passing causes you such immense sorrow, I am going to bring him back to life. In return, at that very moment, one life among the six of you will be taken. Who is ready to come forward for this?"

They shuddered in shock. They looked at each other, and instead of offering their own names, each person suggested one of the other five.

However, not even the eighty-year-old mother came forward to sacrifice her own life. At that moment, the guru said, "Why are you merely wailing in vain? None of you possess the true love that would make a sacrifice. Even if someone had come forward, this young man would have received his life back without harm to anyone!"

The guru and the disciple then left that place and walked on.

Moral of the Story:

Selfless love has become rare in this world. It has transformed into something confined to mere hollow words. One must truly examine the strength of their love.
